Juventus may have tasted defeat to Milan on Monday, but Amauri is certain about one thing: “We’re better than last season.”
The Old Lady have spent the summer reinforcing their side, after finishing second last term, by bringing in Diego, Fabio Cannavaro and Felipe Melo.
And although all three appeared in last night’s penalty defeat to Milan, Amauri is confident ahead of this weekend’s Serie A start.
“It was a nice game, decided only by penalties,” said the striker. “I get the impression that we are stronger than last season.
“Felipe Melo can give us more quality to our play and, alongside Momo Sissoko, will give us a lot of strength.
“We hope this season will be even better than the last one. This Juventus side is promising to do very well.”
Amauri, one of Serie A’s most highly rated strikers, was also inevitably asked about his international future.
Uncapped by Brazil, the country of his birth, he looks like he could be a part of the Italy set-up in the very near future.
“In September, if all goes well, I’ll become Italian and the saga will eventually be over,” he concluded.
